INSULSTOP®

INSUL-STOP®

Part 1 - Description.

1.0 Material Manufacturer
U.S. GreenFiber, LLC
390 E. Ray Road
Chandler, AZ 85225

1.1 The INSUL-STOP® system incorporates "COCOON®" stabilized cellulose insulation, manufactured by  U.S. GreenFiber, LLC, into a superior firestop application. It is used in both 1 hr. and 2 hr. firewalls, in residential wood construction where a split plate party wall exists.

1.2 COCOON® stabilized insulation contains a dry adhesive that is activated during installation. The product remains firmly attached to application surfaces. Applicators are specially trained to install the product properly.

Part 2 - Standards.

2.1 COCOON® insulation, used as a firestop, is described in ICBO Report #ER-2833, dated January, 1999. For allowable values and/or conditions of use concerning COCOON® presented in the document, please refer to this report. The ICBO report is subject to reexamination, revision and possible cancellation.

2.2 COCOON® has been tested for sound absorption ASTM 795, surface burning characteristic E84 and ASTM C739.

Part 3 - Installation.

3.1 The INSUL-STOP® method installs COCOON® insulation, installed using a modified swivel nozzle. Access holes are created approximately 6" above, or below, the floor line for horizontal firestop and vertically at 10 OC for vertical firestop.

3.2 Before handling or installing, refer to the manufacturer's printed instructions on the bag.

3.3 All equipment must be certified by Insul-Stop, Inc. Injection nozzles are sold by the distributor to all installers.

3.4 Applicators will inspect the project to determine the suitability of the installation.

3.5 Applicator shall not commence work until all surrounding surfaces are masked, or covered with a drop sheet, to prevent over spray.

3.6 Drying time will depend upon thickness and temperature. The temperature should not fall below 32°F.

Part 4 - Inspection.

4.1  All installations must be inspected and certified by Insul-Stop, Inc. or its agents.
